BLOGGING
Venue: Dunman High School (Mt Sinai campus)
Date: 12 January 2007
Blogging is really common these days, for the old and young alike. Some make the blogs public, as a platform for making stances, be it about the latest Hollywood gossips or movie reviews, while others prefer to have a private one.
A diary, perhaps, and an online one, where the delicious features and functions just spoils you for choice. You can easily design your own templates, download your own songs, videos, pictures, and just keep posting and updating.
And, just like a diary, you can open up your heart to it, spill out your dirty secrets, perhaps, and interact with people with the same interests and hobbies.
And last but not least, this one golden rule--
In this virtual-internet world, we are only concerned with just one person. And that celebrated person happens to be YOU.
The artist, the music-DJ, the video-director, the journalist publisher - put all these together, and you get the blogger, the creator of your own reality.

CYCLING
Venue: East Coast Park
Date:
Cycling is a form of exercise that is usually carried out in parks and beaches. It is a relaxing and enjoyable activity which also keeps our body fit simultaneously.
Many people treat cycling as a hobby, but not a strenuous exercise.
We carried out cycling as one of our Dunman High Girl Guides initiatives at East Coast Park and all of us really enjoyed ourselves. Initially, we did not dare to insert
great speed to our bikes as we were afraid of falling as most of us had not cycled for a long time. However after a short while, we got accustomed to it and gradually
gathered speed and had a thoroughly thrilling experience while sharing our interests as we rode down the road.
As we submerged in the fun, the hands of time crept past us hastily and in a blink of our eyes, we cycled for close to 2 hours. Our bottoms hurt due to the long hours
of ride, but everything was worth the fun. (:
Even though it is not easy to master the skills of cycling, one needs perseverance to accomplish this task. With all the determination and fortitude, one is unlikely to
fail to pick up the skills to cycling.
Also, cycling is a very good form of transport! Firstly, you can keep fit and train your thigh muscles, and most importantly, you can travel around freely and not contribute
to the pollution of the environment with the nitrogen dioxides that cars and buses emit.
Therefore, all in all, cycling IS a good form of exercise! Let us do it more often and go for more of such bonding initiatives!

all ready to set out! :D

DRAGON BOATING
Venue: Kallang River
Date:
Dragon Boating is a sport suitable for those who love being under the sun and are young at heart. As a guide, we have also tried out dragon boating. It was a fun and new experience
for us, where we not only learned how to dragon boat, but also, bond together.
While trying out the water sports, we also had a tiny competition where we had to row to the shore, and the fastest team was the winner. By participating in dragon boating, we get to
exercise our arms and make us fitter and stronger. We can also test our patience and determination.
Dragon boating allows us to cooperate with our other teammates and thus bonding us further. At the same time, it is also very fun and enriching.
In conclusion, we all think that this is a very fruitful experience for us and we hope that we can dragon boat again in the future. :D

raring to go with smiles on our faces :D

& so we go dragon boating, still with smiles on our faces :D

KITE FLYING
Venue: Dunman High School (Mt. Sinai campus)
Date: 20th December 2006
We had a kite flying activity and it was a brand new experience for us. Some of us had never ever flown a kite before and it felt good to have to be able to experience it.
Indeed, flying a kite really needs a lot of experience and skills. We had to test the wind velocity so that the kite would be able to fly. In addition, flying kite in our
school on the track is also a new experience to us because we are not familiar with our school yet.
Flying kites is a tiring and tedious task because it requires our determination and patience. If we had given up on a flying kite on our first experience, we would never
ever be going to be able to fly a kite anymore. So basically flying a kite can test us on our determination and train us on our characteristics.

ROLLER BLADING
Venue: East Coast Park
Date:
There were many initiatives proposed by our teachers for us to join. After careful consideration, we decided to choose the initiative rollerblading.
The reason we chose rollerblading is partly due to the destination. It is to be held at East Coast Park. East Coast Park is known for its beautiful scenery and windy weather. Another
reason is that we had always wanted to try out rollerblading.
Now that the opportunity presented itself in front of us, take it as we will. It will be a fresh and interesting experience to learn a new skill.
True as it is, East Coast Park really lives up to its name. It is really a very nice place. We were all very excited and couldn't wait for our turn to rent the roller blades. At last,
after a long grueling wait, we got our turn. Hurriedly, we went to put our blades on. Among the whole company, some knew how to rollerblade beforehand, so those who knew helped those who
don't know. We used the peer-teaching method, it was a success.
Though it was a rather tough learning experience, and there were many people falling down, we managed to pass through the ordeal and grasp the techniques. The guiders and our friends
kept encouraging us and it kept us going.
Soon everyone picked up rollerblading really quickly. Together, we rollerbladed the park, enjoying the scenery and the breeze. It was a very enjoyable process.
Through this initiative, we learnt a lot. Not only did we pick up a new skill, the different levels bonded more and most importantly, we all had fun. It was an eventful and significant
day for all the guides and guiders.
If given a chance, we would want to participate in such event again. :D

i'll hold you, sister! :D
